Your own personal "Number One"

Re: Your own personal "Number One"

I'm in limbo right now regarding which guitar is #1. For a while it was my tele, and that guitar will continue to be played a lot.

But right now, my MIJ strat is getting a lot of play. To me, that guitar has something special that none of the other strats I have owned have had.

But who knows, the PRS may be flavor of the month sometime soon. And when I finally get a p90 guitar, all the others had better look out...

Re: Your own personal "Number One"

I always have at least two to three guitars out for me to play in my house. I usually have one in the living room and a couple out in my computer room/studio/jam room. This is my number one guitar that is always out and I play it more than any of my guitars. It's a Gibson Les Paul Classic Plus loaded with a SD Jazz/Jazz combination. It's the first Gibson Les Paul I ever bought. I guess that's why it's so special to me, but I really don't know.

Re: Your own personal "Number One"

I only own one strat MIM but i love it to death and wouldn't dream of selling it EVER! Even if i plan on going the les paul way im sure my strat will always be my most favorite guitar, mainly for sentimental reasons as its been by me for a good 3 years now i started guitar on it and it will always be in my collection. BUt i cant wait for a les paul!...on day..thats what i always tell myself....but for now i am happy with my strat.

Thanks, I appreciate it!!:)I bought my first electric guitar 4 years and 1 month ago. It was (and still is) a Squier Telecaster in kind of a sky blue color. I still whip it out and play it every couple of months or so.

Re: Your own personal "Number One"

My # 1 Is a 84' SQ Squire Stratocaster ( The large headstock, 3-bolt, bullet
rod model) It was white but now it's aged into a nice bannana pudding.
It only cost $369 brand new in 84' I have guitars 3 or 4 times that in value.
But if the place was burning I'd grab this one 1st. I don't play it anymore
Cuz' it needs a refret. A few more fret jobs on POS guitars And I'll be ready
for # 1 :)

Re: Your own personal "Number One"

I got this weird fender telecaster made all out of metal, except neck. its got a realy cool pysicadelic desighn on it. I never play it couse some guy told me some day it would be worth something. :werd: other than that I got my strats that I play one with floyd and one without. :bigok:

Re: Your own personal "Number One"

It's really difficult to narrow it down to one, but I'd say my Goldtop w/nickel C-5/59n. w/pullup tones to split. Also has Schaller Kluson copy tuners - direct fit.

I think of my main guitar as 4 main guitars. Right now, it's my honeyflame Std. Prem Plus and Sunset Custom Schecter Tele. I also really dig the G&L Invader and Teal black McCarty. (that guitar now has zebra C-5/59)
I honestly grab a different guitar everytime I play. It opens more doors for some reason.

91 Schecter Sunset Custom Tele. This was a handmade model that
was made when Schecter had a few luthiers working in Los Angeles.
Some guitars just 'have it'. This is one of them. It's truly one of the
best playing guitars I've ever picked up. It rings beautifully.

Re: Your own personal "Number One"

i have 3 guitars two strats and one acoustic...my favorite is the first strat and the first real electric guitar i have owned...it looks like crap but i always pick it up, i loaded it with jb jr cool rails and hot rails. my other strat is to me the most beutiful guitar in the entire world...its midnight purple with a perliod pickguard with PG and 2 vintage stags, i custom bought every single peice on the guitar and its all real Fender parts But it just doesnt feel like my first strat so it doesnt get the same play as my other. but jeeze im my eyes its the most beutifully looking guitar ever.

Re: Your own personal "Number One"

My Tele is my #1. The Schecter is easier to play, nicer looking, less noisy, etc. But that Tele and I just fit together so well. I sound like "me" when I play it.

Re: Your own personal "Number One"

My number one is my number one Tele. My first attempt at modding and just started the whole ball rolling. The Tele-Gib has everything I need since I started giging again, I always grab it to practice with, the Jazz and JB pups rock and I love the LP toggle. Of course I use the Strat about 20% doing covers, but yeah, if the house were burning, I'd grab the Tele-Gib out of the stack. :22:
My Gear...

Re: Your own personal "Number One"

My "wife" is my '78 SG Standard, which, up until 3 years ago, was the most expensive guitar I had ever purchased. Gretchen, as I call her, is still 100% stock, but I stopped using her for live shows about 10 years ago.
My main live guitar is a '76 Les Paul Custom, beat to hell, but still kicking. I usually also take my "bastard-caster" which is a mid 90's Mexican Tele that I've rebuilt from the ground up. This guitar is the one instrument without which I would be lost.

Re: Your own personal "Number One"

having 2 guitars, i ahve no #1. i love both for differnet reasons. the d-15 is one heck of an acoustic, and the godin (sdxt, w/ 59, classicstack, jb) is a very very verstaile guitar that can do rock-a-billy, paul, strat, classicrock, 80's, lightermetal, funk, and even a tad of jazz, and blues

im dreaming up my #1. someday i will have it. its gonna be a strat put togheter with parts. White body, maple neck with reverse headstock, eiether ssl-1 or antiq calibrated set, with the middle rw/rp. and bridge pup flipped (lefty). so that means a custom pickguard i guess. a lefty bridge, hopefully not have to route out more of the cavity, but even so.....standard wiring, no s-1 ****t. i want oldschool strat. im hoping to find a good usa body for cheap, get the pickguard made right. and getting the neck done right. having mismatching colored hardware could be cool. itd be very me.....im gonna start i think by getting an olympic white usa fender, and go from there...either that or get an older (possibly refin) late 70's strat, and go to work on it, get it refin to white, etc. etc.

Re: Your own personal "Number One"

For me, I struggle to find a guitar that is different or inspiring. With that said, my Dean Chafin Del Sol is probably my favorite. She's so pretty and a unique guitar. The guitar I'm looking at now will probably become my main one, but this semi-hollowbody just does something for me. It took me forever to find some humbuckers that were different than the standard humbuckers out there so that I could get a tone that is more of my style. As of right now, she's my number one, and I can't think of many guitars that I'd rather play instead of her.

Re: Your own personal "Number One"

i have 2 acoustics, Takamine EAN-10c(i think.. can't remember) and a YAMAHA something... (my first 200 dollar guitar... action's horrible now... have to get it set up), and my newest, a gibson les paul studio plus. beautifulllll guitar, beautiful sound. but out of these guitars, i love just the takamine(although its beat up like crazy... like the binding is starting to crack out from drops or something..). i adore my lp... but it just can't make that sweet acoustic sound that i started playing guitar for. it will always be my #1. =)

Re: Your own personal "Number One"

Les Pauls do it just wonderfully for me...however, with the soon to be owned V - we'll just wait and see.

Re: Your own personal "Number One"

My number one would be my Blade fat strat.
The neck fits my hand so well and it looks and sounds amazing.
Maybe its also got something to do with the fact that I bought it off a local gigging guitarist whom I deeply respect. I've watched him pull off the most amazing solo's on it for 3 years and then I ended up buying it off him! =)

Strangely enough, I prefer the sound of a les paul... but I play a lot better on a strat.
So its a bit of a trade off, regardless of what guitar i play.

Re: Your own personal "Number One"

Before a burglary robbed me of all my original self made (lefty conversions of righty pawn shop guitars) my number one was made up of a Kramer body, Kinstar Strat copy neck and vintage 6 screw bridge.....now it's my bright yellow Yamaha Pacifica (only original parts are the body and neck/ plastic pickguard and covers/ knobs)
