Your Pedal Aquisitions of 2013

Re: Your Pedal Aquisitions of 2013

GGG MBB Clone (with some MA856 diodes I had lying around that I purchased from effectsconnection.com back when he had them in stock, and a Burr Brown opa2134)
GGG EAT Clone (with the larger enclosure and footswitch for clean boost/trem)
EH Deluxe Memory Boy (with the tap tempo and effects loop)
Dunlop Crybaby Wah ($30 on ebay, not bad)
Vox Tonelab SE (the floor version w/ 2 pedals) for recording

Pretty sure that's it.

Re: Your Pedal Aquisitions of 2013

I don't really use a lot of pedals but the ones I do use I really like. Currently my gigging board is a Boss CE2 clone (I would like to replace this with a real CE2), a DD3 (works great), a TS9 (modded to give it a touch more gain and eliminate the tone hump), A Vox Clyde McCoy signature wah and a tuner. With this setup I usually plug into a Dleuxe Reverb and I use the TS9 sort of like a channel switch. I set the amp for a clean setting and use the TS to boost the amp into overdrive.

What I would like to add is a Strymon Lex. I haven't found one yet but I will..

Re: Your Pedal Aquisitions of 2013

Boss FRV-1 Reverb (pre-owned)
Catalinbread Echorec
Catalinbread R. A. H.
Rocktron Bad Cat Moan (pre-owned, rescued from a shop display one-of-a-kind pedal board)

Sold some stuff too.

Re: Your Pedal Aquisitions of 2013

How you like that Boss FRV-1 ? I was thinking of getting one for those super wet springy reverb sounds.

If you want that waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much reverb à la Surf Instrumental music, it does that very nicely. (I own a Fender AVRI Jaguar!) Backing off all three controls off takes the effect into more sensible territory. (Good enough to use in the send/return loop of my Blackstar HT-5H.)

I suspect that, if I had a Fender standalone reverb unit for A/B comparison, some differences would be discernible. Unless or until I purchase a Fender Bassman or tweed Deluxe amplifier, the expense of the genuine reverb box will be difficult to justify.

Re: Your Pedal Aquisitions of 2013

started playing electric in a worship band.
just picked up a fulltone full drive 2, way huge echo puss. fd2 is a great overdrive and boost.. colors my sound a bit but was exactly what I was looking for.
The echo puss sits behind my DD-20 as a second delay that fills up my sound. it's wonderful for what it does. reminds me of a memory man.

Everything in this photo except for the tuner.

I sold everything and started over.

Re: Your Pedal Aquisitions of 2013

I went on a splurge just recently... but have bought quite a few and sold most of what I've bought this year lol. It's fun finding deals and trying nice pedals and then if they don't work out sending them along with no loss and sometimes even a gain.

This year I got: RMC 3 (kept), RMC picture wah (sold), Bonamassa wah (sold), Fulltone octavia (sold), fulltone fulldrive 3 (sold...quick), Analogman King of Tone (sold), Piedmont Custom Electronics Aluminum Falcon II (kept), MXR phase 45 (kept), Pigtronix envelope phaser (sold), Mad Professor Deep Blue Delay (sold same day... yuck), Boss DD-2 (kept), Boss DD-3 (kept, back up to DD-2), Boss DD-3 MIT (sold), Boss SD-1 (sold), Boss BF-2 (sold), Boss HF-2 (sold), DOD FX96 (sold), BOSS CE-2 (Sold), Boss CE-3 (Sold), Sweet Tone Habenero Boost (sold), Sweet tone Faux vibe (returned, noisy), Hardwire Delay (miss it... sold), hardwire chorus (Nice... but sold), Boss CE-2B (modded and sold), Black Arts Toneworks Revelation (kept), Dunlop Wah Classic (gutted and use for science projects lol), Whammy 5 (kept)... bought and waiting on an OXFUZZ OxVibe. Due in a week or so. Excited about that one, I use his Germanium fuzz all the time and his vibe is tuned really deep and to be able to handle drive and fuzz BEFORE the vibe... plus it's bone simple with a big knob and blue lights. I like blue lights.

Re: Your Pedal Aquisitions of 2013

Oh bought and sold a corona chorus too. Was nice, but... I like my Roland SDE-2500 delay set for chorus better.

Re: Your Pedal Aquisitions of 2013

I'm finding more and more that there aren't really 'bad' pedals per say... more or less just ones that don't work for people and more importantly don't work with some rigs and playing styles. For instance, on paper the King of Tone looked like a be all end all pedal. The independant drive and boost sounded like a dream, but for my playing style and big feet, it was a horrible idea lol. I'd hit the knobs and I only liked it with the both sides set to clean boost on at the same time, which made it hard to hit! Same with the Fulldrive 3... I hated the new clean boost and missed the 'more' button on the FD-2. Lesson learned. Now I run a single drive into a fuzzy boost for meltdown if I need. Awesome.

Yeah I agree with that point. Bad pedals to some might be amazing to others in their music etc...

I like that kind of setup too, but I stack a fuzz into a TS variant for an amp melting sound lol

Re: Your Pedal Aquisitions of 2013

Bought tons of high gain distortion pedals.

Sold them all. They all sounded fine, but I can get the same sounds with plugins, and quite a few of them are freeware.

Re: Your Pedal Aquisitions of 2013

Nothing for me. Next year I'd like to get a SD-1 and mod it to OD-1 specs. The last one I did that to turned out really good. Wouldn't mind a reverb pedal to use with my Marshall.

Re: Your Pedal Aquisitions of 2013

I'm the opposite I'm gonna try my hardest to not buy anything next year and just stick with my setup !

Re: Your Pedal Aquisitions of 2013

No purchases for me this year. But I'd like to get a looper.

Ditto? RC-2? Whatcha thinkin' bout there?

I got these this season. Both were worked on by me and cost a grand total of like $40

Phaser

Re: Your Pedal Aquisitions of 2013

Fulltone PlimSoul and ISP G-STring Decimator both awsome pedals. Boss Power Stack soulds good but very noisy.

Re: Your Pedal Aquisitions of 2013

I built over 50 over the last year... does that count? I did BUY a whole bunch of stuff to keep building without having to order everytime (seriously, I have enough to last me a lifetime of almost everything, except for enclosures, too expensive to buy 50 of them at once and be done)...

Re: Your Pedal Aquisitions of 2013

In no particular order:

Weehbo JMP Drive
Mojo Hand Colossus
Blakemore Dreamsicle
Sonic Research Turbo Tuner
Strymon Timeline
Strymon Orbit
Black Arts Pharaoh
RMC-6 Wheels of Fire

And I'll probably be picking up a Strymon Mobius before the year's out.

Christ those pedals alone have a combined retail of almost $2k.

Good thing I didn't pay nearly that much.
