Your source for strings???

I went to the LGS looking for a few types of strings and wasn't able to find them. I went online and found a few sites, but don't know about their reliability/service, etc.

anyone use these or have another favorite online source?

Looking for nice acoustic strings mainly for a dreadnaught 6 string. Maybe Pyramids, Martin FX 130s, exl 80/20, or something similar.

Cheers!

The store.

I know Amazon has great prices on strings (my brand is D'Addario, EXL110 mostly) and even on pedals and cords and such. Always check Amazon before you buy a pedal online.

The store I work at.

Also, a lot of folks don't realize this, but most local shops will meet prices. They understand that MF and GC is making it hard to compete, so they have to. Use that to your advantage.

Musicians Friend. They can't be beat with Dean Markley prices and this kind of order they didn't screw up so far. I usually wait for a free ship coupon to pop up on acapella.

I usually prefer to support the LGS. In this instance, they didn't have what I wanted and they were a little reluctant to order some out unless I wanted a 10-pack or so.

I'm revisiting my string research kick and didn't want to commit to a multi-pack.

Try First Quality Music. FQMS had some great dieals on strings. Also, try Elderly for oddball stuff--need strings for your bouzouki?

I love it when I get to say "bouzouki".

Re: Your source for strings???

I order my electric strings direct from DR through a DR dealer. I just use a local, small music store...they will compete on pricing and by the time I get done Im laying LESS per set than GC or MF or whoever else charges!

Re: Your source for strings???

I buy in bulk- so whatever GC has on sale at the time I need to re-up

Re: Your source for strings???

Believe it or not, MF. It's the easiest way to get Thomastik Infelds for me because I live in the middle of nowhere...and packs here (Ernie, GHS, D'addario, Fender, whatever) cost about twice the price. I think if I even mention price matching the people at the stores here would laugh in my face!

Re: Your source for strings???

I usually wait until Music123 has some sort of sale going on and purchase a ton of strings through them. I bought not too long ago something like 18 packs of Dean Markley Sig. strings... love 'em!

Re: Your source for strings???

I go to Guitar Center, pick up some .011 to .049 D'Addarios, and be done and happy with it. It's 15 minutes away, they have a good selection, and I buy them in 3 packs or 10 packs depending on the season. (If it's winter and 9 inches of snow, 10 pack will hold me through the winter.) If I can't get out, I'll order them from sweetwater, GREAT customer support.
