That's interesting because I thought the LPB-1 was EH's take on the old Dallas Rangemaster, which was a treble booster. (I think.) Am I confusing this pedal with something else?

You are probably thinking of the Screaming Bird, which is their treble booster. Inside, it's very similar to the LPB-1, but it only boosts treble, not everything like the LPB-1. The LPB (Linear Power Booster) is supposed to be a flat-e.q. boost. IMO, if you already have the Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster, there is nothing to be gained by getting the LBP-1.

FWIW, the Screaming Bird is my favorite treble booster, though I am well aware that it is too shrill for most people. I added a switch that lets me pick a few different cap values (i.e. lets me pick lower frequencies to boost), just for versatility. However, my opinion still holds even when the pedal is stock. Like all EHX pedals, it's range of adjustment can be complete overkill for most people. Most people will only use the bottom half, or bottom third, of the knob.

IMO, if you already have the Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster, there is nothing to be gained by getting the LBP-1.

Cool. Done. Or NOT done in this case. Now, to continue the fun search for something else.

Almost any of the old single-transistor booster circuits that used to get published in old electronics magazines work well, the circuits are all very similar, just variations in component values. I have a great old circuit that uses the still-available BC149. Flat, clean boost ... it's kinda pointless buying such pedals when you can build them for a few dollars. But in my opinion, the ones using only a single transistor are best.
