Z90's in a Jazzmaster

Stratman

Guitaris Maximus
Yep, I when ahead and did it...

Made in Japan (1980'ish) Swamp Ash body with a Maple neck and a modified bridge.

Replaced the pickguard with a similar one that hid the rythym controls and replaced the original fender pups with Z90's.

Sound is hot, huge, God like... Lot's of jangle...

This guitar is a big time keeper, 1st one to make it into the Stratman's collection in about 1-1/2 years...

(Last guitar, I got from Scott_F and my son took it!)

Kids are like that. But, if you're putting Harmonic Design pups in there, you probably need to hang your head in shame. THe Phat Cats are sooooo much more P90 sounding. :)

I had a Z90 neck pickup in a '92 Hamer Studio Custom for awhile. I liked the neck Z90 alot...tho it didn't really sound like a P90, as Scott mentioned. More like a HUGE & POWERFUL STRAT pickup: bright and jangley as you mentioned. Cool pickup...tho that guitar has an Antiquity humbucker in it now. Congrats! I like the HD stuff I've owned. I have a set of HD Humbuckers too...very sophisticated sound IMO. Reminds me of Steely Dan guitar or Larry Carlton tone.

Yes, but I did not want a phat-cat sound - I wanted BIG Bright Dangle Jangle
