I got to see ZZ Top at an outdoor concert in Glen Allen, VA last night. They put on a good show. Billy's Gretsch Billy-Bo-s really sounded 'rockin"!!!

Here's a link to pictures that were taken at the concert.

The pictures were taken with a compact digital camera.
Today's technology is amazing!

Enjoy,

Allen

Wow, what a show!

I am going to see them in September with Aerosmith --- you got me all pumped up now!

Re: ZZ Top at Glen Allen, VA

Wow. would u look at that drum kit. Think about the poor chap who is putting that thing together and taking it out every night... omg....

Big money man... whoa. I'd love to see them. The lowest tickets here are 110 a pop for the crappiest seats.. I would never pay something like that for a concert ticket. Only if SRV got resurrected - then i would pay that much.

Every good concert lately is $150 bucks. Clapton, Rush. The only peeps who kept the prices down were the G3, and the satch on his solo tour.

By the way, ZZ TOp and Aerosmith's record company just took down my "Cheap Sunglasses" video on youtube. And i got a warning that a repeat offence in copyright infringement will get my account banned. So i am treading on the light side right now, and I have removed my guns and roses video - because they are an edgy bunch right now too...

Stage Three Music (US) is the company to watch out for right now on Youtube...

Very cool pix, thanks for sharing...

The "Moderne" is more than likely a custom Bolin...there are a few thinsg abot it that are not correct but it is awful close!

almost all of Billy's stage axes i hear are custom reproductions from Bolin... even if it says Gibson, Grestch, or Fender chances are it's Bolin's work if Billy is playing it on stage these days

Thats right...it's actually been that while for several years now but recent John has gotten into the habit of putting just putting a G on the headstocks...that makes it easier to tell plus that Moderne has a slightly different set up on the headstock and it's not using the little string trees.

FWIW--Billy has some comments here about his 'Moderne'-pretty interesting to me:

The Moderne he mentions in that interview and the Moderne in the picture linked above are 2 different guitars.

The pic above is a custom built Moderne, more than likely a Bolin...

The Moderne mentioned in the interview is someting Billy's talked abotu a few times but rumors have swirled around for years that it might be the only original 1957 Prototype Moderne left...if it is, it is easily the most valueable electric guitar in the world!

Re: ZZ Top at Glen Allen, VA

We picked up lawn seats to go see Aerosmith and ZZ top for $10 a ticket :)
We were more than likely going to go anyway but when they did the $10 tickets for 1 day only the decision was made without question.

Last time I saw Aerosmith, Kenny Wayne Shepherd opened for them and I was deaf for a day but it was worth it!

I am almost as excited about seeing ZZ top as I am Aerosmith!
