    Actually, they use two noise gates, one in front of and one after a tube screamer style pedal. The compressors are just used because they make "everything sound better."

      OK, have to clear some things up. Don't quite understand.

      When you say messy signal, you mean messy pups, or messy playing?
      When they say tight sound do they mean, rhythmically tight or dynamically ...those guys from Lamb of God?

        I don't know how to break it down in text. You'll just have to figure it out for yourself.
