  • Best Solid State Amp under $300

Something to maybe gig with. Not necessarily a modeling amp, but would consider. Built in effects. For the money.

    Kustom? Traynor?

I have heard some good things about Kustom. I've heard great things about Traynor tube amps, but not so much ss. I play mostly Classic Rock, blues, but I like some good overdrive. Thanks

Used Peavey XXL head can be had for under $300. Awesome amp. Or Peavey Bandit can be had for under $200. Good combo amp, go for a Red Stripe made in america version, very versitile.

Fender Pro 185 if you can find one. That is easily giggable... it gets loud as hell and it sounds pretty damn good too.

Fender Mustang III... $299, they are awesome amps! I'm going to get rid of my mustang II and get the III.

I'd take the mustang III. The bassman, deluxe, and supersonic models sound pretty nice for solid state. Plenty of effects and a lot of tweakability.

dont do it dude! the effects and modeling is not worth it! go tube, my epi valve junior is killer and cost $100. then buy quality effects. no effect is gonna duplicate tube tone! if an attenuator is needed then get that.

I know what you mean and I agree absolutely, but I've personally grown tired of always making "the tube argument" when the OP usually has already considered it.

OP has NOT considered it! he wants to gig with an amp. solid state WILL NOT cut through the mix and is always gonna sound like static cardboard compared to tube
