Re: What was your first amplifier?

A Peavey bass amp from the late 70s / early 80s.

It was formative in my sound, that's for sure.

My first amp was this old SEARS AMP!
      when I was like 16
I rocked it out with this old rocktron distortion pedal.... fried the speaker apart in like 4 months....
I replaced it with an old car speaker out of a 75 Mercury.... it worked for another couple months.... then it blew up....

I was in the hospital undergoing a series of knee operations, my dad felt so bad for me that he actually went and bought me a Peavey 15 watter.... I kept that until college where I sold it to my roommate as his first amp... he still plays it.
      Go buy my book. https://www.amazon.com/dp/198405564X

my first amp was a peavey bandit like this

but i had my squier II for three months or more before i had the money for an amp. playing electric guitar unplugged sucked but having an 80w right off the bat was sweet!!

my second amp kicked much more ass though

It's been about 30 years but I'm pretty sure it was one of these:

I think these fall into the "awesome because it's so ugly" category. I remember seeing these growing up and was just amazed at all the dials and stuff.

The first Crate amp (CR1)...had wooden box look. I thought it was good at time but it really stunk. Love is blind

Mine was a Carlsbro stingray 100w solid state head... for which I then got a very battered but huge 4x12 cab to plug it through. For a first amp it was huge, and pretty loud.

Bass was a little baby Carlsbro 1x12 combo... which was a bit rubbish
It's a valve sporker... it sporks valves

                        Roland Cube 20x

Cheap and full-featured practice amp, with built-in tuner, various sounds, effects, headphone input, everything I could need for starting off on guitar. It's great !
There's so much gear I want that the whole list would make a highway to hell if it was ever written down.
                        Don't ask.

                          Mine was 1 of these:

1st series Marshall Valvestate 8040 combo.

The clean channel didn't work too well (I think it had a few dodgy pots but I didn't know any better at the time), but I was so happy to have a Les Paul into a Marshall

God, it was awful. It made my next amp sound amazing.

My next amp was an MG30.

                                Yup.
