  • Questions about the Blackstar HT-20 head.

Well guys, here's a few questions. Remember I was looking at a Laney GH50?
Well, I tried it and it sounds amazing but it's way, waaaaaay too loud before you can get the tubes cooking, so that renders it useless for me.

I'd like to get an amp that could get the tubes working out without cracking the paint off my walls, but with enough power for small gigs without a mic in front and rehearsals.

And the Blackstar HT-20 head seems to fit my bill in just about every aspect. It's low wattage, modern flavored, has an FX loop and everything, but I'm a bit concerned about the clean headroom.

And the really bad thing is, I'd have to buy it untested.
But at least tonewise, I trust all the praise Blackstar's getting.

Do you think it could hang with a drummer and a band that's actually not so loud while rehearsing?
Let's say with a 2x12 cab, not sure about speakers yet.
What speakers would you put with such a low-wattage head actually?
I'd like to get clean tones without any breakup if I don't want it to.

The HT-40's probably just as loud as the Laney so that'd be stupid.

Tubes or Solid State: All are welcome. If it amplifies a signal, this is the place!
