        Having had and used a DS-1 Monte Allums recto mod, I'm fairly certain that it can get pretty awesome rock/hard rock tones, but it totally, completely, absolutely 100% misses the mark for metal.

        but it really rules for rock stuff.

          Agreed. The Recto Mod fixes what ails the stock DS-1 brilliantly, but there's no scoop to it to make it sound like Mesa.
