  • Last Question (Green Beret vs Greenback)

I have owned green berets in the past and loved them. Never owned a greenback. For those that have had both and done a comparison; how do they compare?

    thanks

Re: Last Question (Green Beret vs Greenback)

From what Ive heard (never personally tried both) the Beret has smoother, more even mids and smoother highs. The real deal Greenbacks sound more aggressive in comparison. This is based on what I have read trying to decide on buying the WGS or the Celestions. I got the Celestions because I got a killer deal on some 1976 Blackback G12Ms.

Let us know what you think, all right? I may be looking for a Greenback or clone cab within the next year.

          I have both.

The Greenbacks are a bit brighter and more aggressive. More woody sounding with more detail in the midrange and the cone breakup you'd expect out of a Celestion.

Green Berets are a little smoother and duller. The cone breakup is different and not as crunchy. Cool speaker, but it's not a Greenback (which could be good or bad depending on your tastes).

Will do. Wish I had one of each to really compare.

It's hard to describe as I haven't compared them in about a year and a half so the details are all fuzzy in my mind. Both sounded good, but the Greenback sounded like a Greenback and the Green Beret sounded like a Green Beret.

Not super helpful, but it's an honest answer.
