Re: Looking for a new amp

    Uh...any Fender amp?

Even Hot Rods sound good with the volume up.

    Dual channel
    Effects loop
    Fender-esque gain and clean tones
    Reverb
    Around 1500 or less used

Well I've already got a great Fender - 68 Bassman - so I want a different flavor. I'm thinking about a Mesa of some sort - Mark II, Lonestar Classic - or a 6L6 Shiva.

When I answered you this morning you wanted Fender-esq now you want something different...

If you want NOT like a Fender then stay away from anything Mesa really, most Mesa stuff is based on Fender stuff...the Shiva 6L6 pales in comparison (IMHO) to the EL-34 model but that said both of them sound like big Fenders...

If you want 2 channels, not Fender in vibe and at $1500 or so used I'd start with a Marshall 2205 and 2x12 cab or maybe even a DSL-50 and 2x12 cab...
If you just read a post by The Guy Who Invented Fire please understand that opinions change, mind sets change and as players our ears mature...not to mention our needs grow and change. With that in mind, today I may or may not agree with the post you just read!

I should have phrased that better - I want a different flavor of Fender. I don't think I could take an amp that only does the Marshall sound. It just wouldn't be for me. That's why I'm intrigued by the Shiva and certain Mesas - they do a good fender sound, but not 100% Fender, and have a great gain sound.

I'm still trying to decide whether to get the Bassman that I've been looking at or get a Deluxe Reverb Reissue or a Super Sonice 22. Lol

I mean, the EL84 Shiva is the ultimate guitar amp, in my opinion.

If you can find one, get it.

They are not under $1500, though.

I've seen them go for 1200 in this area.
