Cab for an Orange Micro Dark

I bought an Orange Micro Dark a couple of months ago when they first came out.
I just grabbed the little 1x8 cab from Sweetwater that was packaged with it so I have something to play it with.
I hope that the amp has some more depth to it and its just that little 1x8. It's very sterile sounding and has no depth to it.
What cab suggestions does anyone have with this? Money is not a big deal, I'll buy whatever I need to.
Do I need a 2x12 or a 4x12? What brand? Any help is appreciated, I have played a couple of Rockerverbs and I realize that these are pretty cheap in comparison but I think that cabinet is really holding the amp back. I play at home too, I mostly play my EVH but I like the the cleans and the gritty grind of the lower gain on this. I just need it to have more depth and life to it.

I've got the full size-lower powered-medium mini-version dark terror that I run, mostly, through an EV loaded Boogie Thiele. Sounds great to me- big, open, and loud. Not a 4x12, but gets me closer than any other small box I have tried.

Re: Cab for an Orange Micro Dark

I run my MicroTerror thru a 4x10 most of the time but it sounds great thru a 1x12. Those 1x8 cabs are not going to give you a decent room sound at all though I guess they might under tight mic'ing.

Re: Cab for an Orange Micro Dark

If you need small, a ported 1x12 is the way to go. The best one available is probably a Bogner Cube, but they're pretty expensive. If you want to do it on the cheap, pick up a used Egnater Rebel 112X and swap the speaker; I have an Eminence Private Jack in mine. The best part is that it sounds great and I have less than $200 in it including the speaker.

Re: Cab for an Orange Micro Dark

If you can track one down, Ampeg GVT112E or GVT112EW are great value 1x12 cabs.

Re: Cab for an Orange Micro Dark

Yeah a cab will make a huge difference on that little amp. (No pun intended!) If you want a 1X12 I'd put some kind of Thiele behind it for the "thoom"! The 1X8 is definitely affecting your sound.

Re: Cab for an Orange Micro Dark

Thanks for the advice everyone. I am gonna start combing Craigslist for something.
I may just bite the bullet and buy an Orange 2x12 closed back with V30s in it.
My plan is to have a Rockerverb 50 in the next year or two and that 2x12 would be perfect with it.

Re: Cab for an Orange Micro Dark

Yeah that Orange 2X12 will rock with the little Dark. I put my regular Dark Terror through my Mesa 4X12 and holy living crap was it loud and awesome sounding!

Re: Cab for an Orange Micro Dark

Those are my thoughts and I have a good cabinet to upgrade my amp with when the time comes.
