I use a Mesa Diesel 1x15 closed back with a EVM15L for guitar and love it. I use it with a Mesa Mark III combo paired with a EVM12L or alone with a Peavey 5150. Look at the speaker specs of a 12L vs 15L and that might help you make a decision.

Just one tiny problem: wattage rating disappoints... if it was 150w, or at least 120w, it'd be another story

I used it with my 100w Marshall with no issues whatsoever. I had my 4x12 on one side and the 15 on the other. It sounds glorious but it is a bit too much to drag to gigs. Right now I am using it with my Peavey Classic 20h. Once again I am thrilled with the results.

15s are cool for smooth buttery cleans in my experience -but are inferior to 10s and 12s for punch, drive, accuracy.

So jazz is an awesome place to use them.
