After lots of eye-opening experiences getting to crank a Jubilee, a Mesa and an entire rack setup at a friend's, I've come to realize I really miss the touch of a real tube amp.
And no matter how close plugins and modelers get to one in recording, I'm sorry, I do not live inside a DAW.
And while I'll say that Neural DSP actually gets the dynamics close on the software side, on the hardware side of things, a good interface that can make full use of the dynamics offered is just so expensive I find myself thinking "why don't I just go back to an amp and a cab"
So I did.
Gents, I'd like to introduce you to my new friend: an old, rusty Mk I H&K Triamp, driving a 2x12 Avatar cab loaded with a V30 and a G12H30
I got the amp from a store that forgot they even had it, and the cab from a nice older foreigner who was returning to his country. Thankfully the only other people who knew who Avatar cabs were were other expats
Both articles acquired under $ 1k altogether.
