    I think we all may be thinking to much. Go play a LP Standard and an LP Classic through the same amp and listen...... yah, HUGE difference! I think your just into hot, rich, thick sounding pickups like the ones in the LP Classic. I had the same experience with a Gibson Goldtone, a friend has one and there was one at a music store and one sounded real thick and fat for leads and the other sounded sweet to but as far as just plain old initially "catching someones ear" with fat tone goes, those hot pickups are usually what does it.

      I think i do worry about this stuff too much and i just need to play...and that goes for anyone else worrying their pretty little axe weilding heads off too...just play!
