Either of my Steinbergers, really. They weigh maybe 6lbs, the weight is on my strap, not my leg, and the main weight of the body is the bridge, not the (nonexistent) headstock, so it balances perfectly.

Strats win in any position. Say what you will about the sound (Blueman), but damn they feel nice.

I gotta say, the Klein was the best, most ergonomic I have ever played. You could balance it on your leg and take your hands off, and it would sit there, perfectly balanced. The $5k price tag on the one I tried prevented me from taking it home though.

Strats, or this (designed by me, built mostly by a friend with some input from myself) ......

Actually that's exactly one of the reasons (besides the lack of tummy cut, forearm contour and tendency of the weight of the body to make it "dive" the opposite way of a SG) why a lot of people don't like Les Pauls sitting down. The waists of the body are deeper and the guitar sits lower.

If you're moving from a Strat to a Paul, another thing is that the TOM setup sits very differently compared to the Fender, and because of that the neck angle is different as well.

I'm going to have to go Strat, but Ibanez Joe Satriani models are very comfortable to play. Definitely something in the vein of a Strat.

PRS Custom bodies don't sit all that well with me.

But to be honest, when I say something doesn't sit well with me doesn't mean I can't play it. I still find PRS, LPs, SGs, etc comfortable and playable, I'm just measuring them up against a Strat.

+1. For me it's an SG. The body's thin enough to never get in the way, and it's contoured to fit naturally.

BTW, one of the reasons the Strat was developed was all the complaints about Teles being bulky & uncomfortable. I agree that Strats have a nicely contoured body shape (if only they didn't have...).

I think someone might just get a short scale, set neck, mahog/maple/rosewood, PAF equipped Strat sometime soon...which means we're making progress .

Used to be my SG, but I'm a construction worker and my shoulder can't take it. So now it's my V which is alot easier to play sitting with a wing between my legs. Now its the only guitar I play.
