my buddy's brother who plays shred, the manager at GC who plays pop punk, and this other dude who works there who played it the other day who plays country. that's just lately, as in within the last couple of months.

Re: How high is your action?

I like my guitar strings to feel stiff (semi-thick gauge), yet be easy to play (close to low-ish action) and be buzz free (carefully adjusted truss rod).

Re: How high is your action?

I don't even know where to take the measurements... I hate buzz so I tend to have my action pretty High I guess but seems like I will pretty much always get buzzes on the low E when I dig in just a little between the 7 and 15ish frets...

The best way to ajust your action is to get the neck near straight (very slightly bended) and you raise/lower the bridge right?

I don't rightly know, but I have people tell me it's high all the time. I used to spend hours and hours getting everything just 'so' for ridiculously low action, but I finally just gave in to laziness and raised it up. I can go longer without a fret level, can screw off truss rod adjustments when the seasons change, I can hit the strings harder without buzz, and it's not like I'm a monster shredder and need the stupid low action for speed or something.

My 7 1/4" radius strats I use 3/32 bass side and 5/64 treble side at the 18th fret, then I make a bazillion micro tweaks to the saddles till I get the feel I want.

jebus, that must sound pretty good. plenty of signal for your effects tweaking, i'm guessing?

Re: How high is your action?

Don't really know how high in actual measurements, I just go by feel.
I don't play Rusty Cooley type stuff, so I don't need uber super mega low action.
My action is low, but definitely not as low as it can go, because I feel it helps me to bend and do vibrato this way, while still keeping a relatively low action

Nah do not run that many pedals...
But I like big strings, 10-46 is the thinnest I can use without feeling I'm playing on rubber I guess...
But I can use them if needed(9-42), just like the pull of the big ones I guess:_)

Can't admit to the "Mile High Club", but the ex and I got it happening
on a real tall mountain one time

I swear, there were iceicles on my testicles

Seriously though, I like to look at a string and it will fret where I want it to.
I do prefer flatter radi on my fretboard which still allows some resistance.

I general use flatwound 12-fifty-something strings. I raise the action until it doesn't buzz under my highest natural picking pressure. I've been told the action is kind of high, but that the neck on my guitar feels so great that after a few minutes they don't notice.
