Check out the pic, I've got a pickguard that needs about 1/2 inch trimmed out of the neck slot. I don't have a lot of fancy tools laying around, what do you suppose is the best way to do this?

Re: Fitting a pickguard to my strat copy
I got a pickguard from GFS
and had to whittle out the same spot
I used a utility knife
then waved a soldering iron over the cut area to "smooth" it outEHD

Re: Fitting a pickguard to my strat copy
Dremel Tool w/ Sandpaper Barrel attachment.
regular sandpaper when it gets to the tough spots. i routed the wood on my Aria Pro II for a backdoor and also shaped the door from a blank piece of pickguard material with just the Dremmel. no sandpaper needed. but get one with two speeds ''cause sometimes one speed may be to fast.
