Re: Anyone make a decent small practice amp?

Thanks to all. I wanted something small to replace my Pignose and Roland/ Boss seems to make good stuff so I went for the Roland Micro. It's battery opperated like the Pignose.

            Hoss,

I played a Blues Cube 30 and actually own a BC 60 (3x10). It's a pretty good little solid state amp. You can get decent cleans for jazzier stuff and pretty decent overdrive tones (I liked it better than the ss princeton and ss marshall stuff I tried) . If you are thinking of it for a practice amp, one possible drawback is a lack of features. I don't think the 30 has a microphone out or a cd in (the 60 definitely doesn't). I actually use my blues cube quite a bit for when I am only plunking around for a few minutes and I don't want to fire up the tube amp. It is a terrific amp to keep by the sofa in front of the tv

Re: Anyone make a decent small practice amp?

              i've noticed that...

it looks like the regular roland cube 30 and the H&K blue 30 have the most bang for your buck, followed by the trademark 10...?

the shop i always go to carries roland and H&K...i'll have to try some of them out real soon...it looks like i could snag either of them on e-bay for around $150 bucks...???

Re: Anyone make a decent small practice amp?

Look at the pignose 40 watt tube amp. They are 200 bucks at zzhounds. I reqad up on them and they seem good. For that price for a decent tube amp I don't think you can go wrong. I might start a thread asking if anyone has played one. I had never even heard of the brand before and the name pignose made me think it was crap, but reading up it seems good. Not the battery one like you mentioned earlier.

                    Go to: http://www.guitarplayer.com/

Click on the video for the "Peavey Backstage Practice Amp".

I've never heard one in person but based upon the video clip it seems to be worth checking out.
