  • Best source for push/pull pots

I've never had good luck with push/pulls. I once spent about $15 on authentic "gibson" push/pulls that were branded Alpha and turned way too loosely. I don't think there is a way to adjust this and it caused me to roll the knob back to 8 or 9 every time I did a coil split with it. Having the same issue with Bourns push/pulls.

What is a good source for quality, not-overpriced push/pull pots? Ones that won't fail and also don't turn too loosely or too stiff either.

Check out the Mojotone push/pull pots. Best source is Musician's Friend: LINK

Don't mind the 2 reviews there...they were written by genuine idiots and had nothing to do with the quality or function of the product

Price wise...Bourns push/pull 500k are ~$5 / ea on Amazon... either prime free or free free shipping

      Large quantities, probably go Mouser

Old Matsumoku japs had some kickazz life-proof stock pushpulls that lasted 40 years, but I got no idea what they were or if anyone still makes em

I mostly use Bourns pots. I agree about the loose turning thing. I like smoother pots with more resistance to turning, but at least two companies sell rebranded Bourns guitar pots as quick turning pots for a lot more money (with initials like EVH, and YJM).

I stick a little foam rubber “washer” I make from cosmetic pads under the knob to stop from accidentally turning the pot.

I was surprised to have a 1986 push-pull tone pot working well on a Spectrum MX (I won't change it), but the vol pot is stupidly logarythmic (need to be swapped).

Not a push/pull issue, but I purchased a Gibson toggle switch for my old Telecaster Deluxe as it has exactly the same shape and that authentic Gibson toggle is quite noisy what you switch pickups. Next time I'll get a generic WD Music part or something like that...

                i prefer push push pots
as i dont have to grip them to make em work

                bump on

                bump off

                be careful when changing knobs
if its down when you pull up on it
                it ripps the guts out

Thanks those mojotone pots look like the best bet. Do they turn real loosely like the Bourns I described or do they have more resistance?
