It goes down to the bottom of the hole where the 4th string goes through

      $141,000.00 for tuners ?
      Does not compute.

IDK who's making Schaller now. Used to be Germany.
I suspect maybe China now IDK ?

OK Inspired with the feedback you all gave me today, I swapped one of the tuners that wasn't working with the 5th of 6th to the 4th string and guess what? It locks the way it should.... Problem solved !!!!

OK, Earlier this week wednesday morning I found the last Schaller tuner they promised me to send in my mailbox. Regards to Schaller after all and thanks again for the feedback here.

Re: Beware: Locking tuner Schaller blues

Yeah, I'd say Schaller really bent over backwards and went the extra mile on this...replacing 3 tuners that were probably ok to begin with.

It took a little time, but that's pretty normal when dealing with big companies. There's a "chain of command" that has to be followed.

Yeah, don't know of many companies who would go to such lengths while asking so little of the consumer.

                Glad you got it sorted

2 in chrome and 3 in satin chrome, 2 of the satin chromes are unusable, I tested them on every string of my guitar.

OH! So it was 5 tuners they sent, not 3 like I thought. Wow! That WAS impressive on Schaller's part.

Well perhaps they'll work with bass strings...
