i decided it was time to retire my '79 marshall 4x12 since it looks new but i feel bad beating the hell out of it with monster gain with tons of low end. plus it's not 100% the sound i want. i found my sound with a mix of a 5150 4x12 and a marshall vint. 30 loaded 4x12 at the same time...but there is no way i'm going to gig with 2 4x12 cabs...too much crap to move around...so i need one 4x12 do it all cab. i'm thinking i can go with a splawn or a voodoo, or a diezel cab or a bogner ubercab (this seems nice with the speaker match of 2 vint 30s 2 gt75s) or perhaps a mesa cab or another which seems nice the new engl XXL cab which looks great on paper like the bogner since they praise it's low end...but what the heck sets these cabs appart...for the most part they are all birch and loaded with celestions of some sort and in the $1k price range roughly. from the specs they only vary a bit in size for the most part...so what would work better for me? i find my marshall has a bit too much mid focus and not enough low end but the 5150 cab is a bit too mushy sounding but does have a decent low end with some amp tweeking but overall it sounds a bit muffled and not focused on its own...thus why the combo of the two worked great they filled eachothers gaps real well. so what cabs should i look at? no marshalls please since as i mentioned i found them to be a bit lacking in the low end. also since i'll be only using 1 4x12 cab should i shoot for a slant or will a straight cab be fine since most cabs i seem to like tend to be straight only...does it matter that much?
