Re: small power amp, MESA or MARSHALL or something else...

I'm the wrong person to ask, I have a Mesa 2:90 for home use. The 20/20 is a cool little amp and if you insert an effects processor between the preamp and the 20/20 you can get it down to very reasonable levels.

What I do is run my Triax and 2:90 where they are both at a good level and then I bavck off the output of the effects unit. The power amp will thin out at very low levels but I think you'll find that the point where you increase the signal to the amp to fatten it up will still be more than managable.

Seeing that you are running single 12s instead of a pair of 412 cabs will also help keep your output managable. I'm running single 90 watt celestion loaded cabs and I can get as quite or as loud as needed for any situation.

Thank you guys for dropping your comments.
As much as I'm thinking about it I think I will go for the 50/50 because its flexibility, both 50 and 15W, can make me enjoy both worlds.
