I was shopping hard for a Soloist recently. Wound up with an LTD M-1000, but that’s a sweet looking guitar.

Well, I have to say, congrats to them in celebrating new woods in electric guitar, like laurel, nato, and tamo ash. I know they have been used in guitar making before, but they are usually covered up with opaque finishes.Administrator of the SDUGF

By the way when they launched, those WC Soloist gave me a bad case of GAS. Thankfully their pricing keeps me away from them - for the time being at least... And their ash topped mahogany looks gorgeous! Thankfully the WR= I have doesn't have that circular pattern as the soloist in one of your links... that grainpattern reminded me of a baboon's backside... the mahogany part is a bit suspect though (as usual), it feels way too light unless a huge parts of the body is ash. Not that I care, whatever it is made of, it sounds phenomenal (to my ears at least).
Also congrats on the axe! The X series needs work, but when done they are great players. Just don't look under the hood, there are some ugly details there, at least on mine... Like trem claw screws poking up into the neck pickup cavity...
