I like having a fat necked guitar around. It's a cool feel to have. I shaped mine from a baseball bat into more of a soft V until it was more comfortable.

FWIW I've found the thicker neck guitars I have, in general, tend to sound 'better' (balanced across all notes in chords, even across all strings, single notes sound thick as chords, high strings sound as strong as the wound strings, etc.) and have good sustain. There are a few exceptions, but in general...
