I just realized that I posted this in the wrong forum.

For some reason I’m thinking Marshall flavored. Dirty Little Secret, Pinnacle, Crunch Box, OCD, Dirty Deeds?

The 78 Bad Ass might be the ticket too.
      Oh no.....

Consider the MXR Super Badass Distortion, too. Small, not too pricey, and the range of gain and volume is massive. It also has +/-18db bass, mid, and treble eq so you can make it sound just about any way you want.

Thank you for the replies. The MXR is the lead horse right now.

Just remember there are two, the M78 "78 Custom Badass Distortion" and the M75 "Super Badass Distortion." The M75 with the 3-band eq is the one I'm referring to. It is much more flexible IMO.

I use a BOSS Mega-Distortion for my heavier stuff. Lots of bottom and chug

TC Electronic Dark Matter is another one worth checking out, it's more of a distortion (as is the MXR 78), but it sounds like that's what you want if you need it to be your main tone.

Know nothing about this pedal, will check it out. I have been very impressed with the limited exposure I have had to their stuff thus far.

Now THIS has me very interested because I am doing a retrowave album next and this looks like it screams 80s. I am using a BOSS RV-3 (technically 1990/91) specifically for the BOSS flavour of delay and the sound of the buffer.

Another one to check out is the (discontinued) Dirty Deed. It pretty much starts where most overdrives end, and gets into fuzz territory as well. Really a great pedal that sounds more like an amp to me than a pedal throughout most of the drive range.

Ooo, thanks for the recco. How sensitive is the gain control? I need something between medium and high gain.

I didn’t realize it was discontinued.

The gain control is sensitive, but the range is from what I'd consider an overdrive on max to super saturated. So you have all the graduations in between. It certainly isn't an overdrive pedal at all. As far as it being discontinued, I just looked...it is still in the current pedal list, although at the end.
