A8 Magnet Swap in Fender RI Wide Range Humbucker

Has this mod been attempted by any guitarists out there? What were the results?

I have a Tele Deluxe 72 RI on the way with two of the Wide Range Humbuckers and the pots have been switched to 500K from the stock 250ks. Any thoughts out there on this magnet swap?

I don't think there's any magnet bar in those p'ups...

I haven't seen any A8 rods as yet.

The Made in Mexico Re-Issues have an Alnico V bar magnet. The originals used Cunife threaded rod magnets, which were very weak magnets and the original pickups were overwound to compensate for the weakness. The RI pickups are not overwound.

The original pickups used 1 meg pots and were/are loved for their clarity and very saturated tone. Not sure if I want to achieve the vintage WRHB tone, but a balanced sound would be very nice.
