This is cool on many levels! It says a lot about just how thoughtful and genuine MJ and the awesome people at Seymour Duncan truly are. I hope you enjoy the new pickup Darth; I look forward to your review!

that's in the works. just got finished knocking out a boatload of clips of the RTM (in poplar, and in maple, and in alder) that I'm finishing up first. since I'll be putting the IM1 in the same guitar that currently has a '78, I'll be doing some before-and-after comparisons as well.

I just had a Custom Shop pickup based off the IM1 arrive the other day. Installed it and it's killer! That reminds me, I better start a new thread.

would be interested in hearing more about that one.

the IM1 definitely seems to have the same DNA as the '78, but with more bite. since I put it in the same guitar that had a '78 in there, I did some recordings of each. I probably won't get back to it until next week, but I think the preliminary results are pretty cool.

The box just says Alnico for the magnet... ever get that information?

15.1K resistance means it is most likely 43 gauge wire... I suppose it could be a metric gauge that's slightly smaller but you are saying that it has the same DNA as a '78? 15.1K of 43AWG might be similar compression to 9K of 42AWG but the IM1 has more bite? Interesting... bite is where it's at IMHO.

As a Texan, you should be much more of an expert on proper tortillas than I am... so do the Tonetillas have the mojo and taste as good as her pickups sound?

Nice gesture on her part for such a decent and loyal Custom Shop junkie.
