alt 8 custom: I don't like the wind of the custom with regular polepieces so I won't make that myself, unless I'm being asked to do so. I do LOVE the fullshred with an alnico 8, though. All the problems I have with the 'custom 8' are gone with the 'fullshred 8'. Much tighter, more 'cut', more precision and the articulation in the upper mids and treble is much, much better. strange, how a few polepieces can change the tone so much. or not.
the JB does play kind with the alnico 8 by the way. i get the feeling that the jb wind lends itself well for magnets that 'boost' the mids (I know, magnets don't 'make' tone,but you get what I mean). Especially in a mahogany guitar.
