Ah, I just thought of a good solution for you. Go on Ebay and buy a rough-cast A2. They're only a couple of bucks and an easy mod for your Custom Custom. Furthermore, your tone will become more unique because few people are sporting rough-cast A2 Custom Customs. I have swapped many magnets in my Custom Custom so I'm familiar with this. The rough-cast A2's that I have bought have been weaker than the polished A2's that come with the Duncans. I have a Pearly Gates that was near perfect until I swapped the polished A2 for an unpolished one, now there is no way to enhance it any further. It will weaken your pickup slightly and give it a subtly sweeter, more vintage vibe, but the difference will be hardly noticeable except that the lows are richer and the output is slightly reduced. That, my friend, will let you keep your Custom Custom tone while reducing the output just enough for you.
