artie how is the DD neck models "cut"?ArtieToo said:I like my DD neck a lot. But then again, its still "new" to me, and I play through a modeller - not an "amp".
Its sorta like a JB on steroids. Has the same characteristic tone of the JB . . . but more. I have it mated with a JB in the bridge, and I may have to swap the two around to balance them out better.
thanks!ArtieToo said:I'm not sure I can answer this in a meaningful way, 'cause I don't play in a band. However, when I get home, I'll see if I can throw together a quick "mix", and post the clip.
Travis said:I've used a PG, Full Shred, Distortion, Cool Rails and Hot Rails in the neck matched with a bridge Distortion. All of them match up quite well. But they all have their own individual character. For metal/shred, I would recommend either the Distortion of Full Shred in the neck. For a little more verstility and sparkling cleans, I would say the Pearly Gates or another PAF type pickup would work great. If you have a single coil sized route, either the Hot Rails or Cool Rails work great in combo with the Distortion.

Robert S. said:I had a Duncan distortion set in a LP for quite awhile. The DDn is a very cool pickup that has quite a bit of girth and just enough juice to balance with the DDb without sounding murky. The cleans are suprisingly good for the output and under gain for lead work it screams. I found that it's sort of an in between pickup. It hits vintage type amps hard enough to get them over driving but it'snot so hot that it sounds overly compressed through high gain amps.
