If you can find some leftover CAT5 computer network cable laying around (4 pairs of stranded copper twisted pair), cut off the ends and pull-out a couple of pairs. It's small diameter, flexible, and works great. You could probably buy a CAT5 network patch cable and cut it up cheaper than trying to purchase the actual wiring. It would also probably be more than you'd ever use. This wire is unshielded, however, but should be fine for wiring up switches and pots.
