  • Counterfeit?

Never seen a small logo on a JB. Only ever seen on PRaIls, and possibly one or two other very specific models where there isn't room for the normal logo. Counterfeit? Or special pickup from some OEM thing?

Screw poles and slugs look correct (slightly flattened tops on screws and subtle bullseye on poles), as do the bobbins and the baseplate from this angle.

Could be a shop floor custom or an OEM version where a smaller logo was requested.

I asked the seller to post a pic showing the bottom, but I'm leaning toward legitimate

I think we need a sticky counterfeit thread and combine the previous discussions where all the variations have been covered.

That's a good idea...seems like a lot of people getting stung recently.

I can only assume it's also in most people's interest to have that info easily available.

The Jackson dinky dk2 comes with one of those as stock pickups. I saw that guitar couple of weeks ago. The seller told me the pickups are duncan designed but he didn't know which model they are. The guitar has hss configuration and the smaller logo appears even on both single coils. Let me check is the guitar is still available on the seller website. If yes I will post it here later

It's still there. That's the link:
Vendita Chitarre on line nuove e usate. Specialisti in Chitarre elettriche acustiche folk mancine fretless archtop a 7-8-12 corde .Bassi acustici elettrici. Amplificatori, diffusori, pedaliere, astucci e borse per chitarre.

Sorry it's in Italian, but the specs of the guitar are in English. Maybe it's an oem pick up

Just did it. After this thread, lets put all that knowledge in one place.

That smaller "Duncan Designed" logo has appeared a few times over the years. It's similar, but different than the OP's example, which is unusual for a traditional USA-made SD pickup.

That said, I seem to recall Diamond/DBZ having some made up like this with the smaller logo at some point.

The seller posted a picture to the listing showing the bottom. Although it's missing the label, which is a tad unusual (you can tell it had one at some point), there's nothing apparent to me that suggests that it's not a real SD. The self-tapping screws are correct, the baseplate checks out, correct mounting tabs, etc.

I'm willing to bet this was either OEM or a "shop floor custom" ordered with the smaller logo. My money is on legit SD. Whether it's the exact model the seller claims is less certain.
