A good multimeter, polarity tester and coil tape are must have tools for the pickup geek. I use the Stew Mac stuff, it's good to go.
Best amp tech I've ever had and hands down one of the best electronic/sound wizards in the NC Piedmont.

Thanks. I was considering them, but got side tracked because I'm cheap, lol. They're asking $4 for the tape and $7 to ship. I think I would feel much better if they listed $7 for the tape, and $4 for shipping, haha. I'll have to get some eventually.

I got the multimeter though, best investment. As for polarity tester, I usually just re-orient the mag the other way if it's out of phase, . Trial and error.

3M makes that tape too but it's EXPENSIVE! I contacted 3M years ago and asked for a sample roll of it. I can't remember but I think it was $30 a roll for 72 yards of it.

Re: WTB: Looking for a pickup coil tape

Just checked and it is $1372 for a case of it, as I don't see rolls of it available in a single roll even. A case holds 72 rolls of this tape. Acetate 11 cloth tape by 3M. Your best bet is probably Stew-Mac.

Re: WTB: Looking for a pickup coil tape

Amazon has a single roll of the 3M Acetate #11 cloth tape for $15.46 and about $7.75 for shipping from a company R.S. Hughes. It is 72 yards though, so it's a little more than 3 times the amount of tape from Stew Mac as that roll is 65 feet.

$.17 a foot (shipping included) for the Stew Mac tape.

$.11 a foot (shipping included) from R.S. Hughes for the probably better made 3M #11 tape.
