  • The rut. Any good country/chicken picking instruction books?

Yep I feel I haven't been progressing at all in the past 6 months or so. I never learn songs in the first place, but for some reason my progress has been even slower than usual anyway.

So to counter that I'll work on something quite different. Chicken picking and country style guitar.

Does anyone know of any nice chicken picking/country introduction books/DVDs for the uber beginner? Thanks!

I never really know if the links work ...... I Googled "Johnny Hiland Instructional Videos". I have no clue what level they are. You can find him on youtube easily.

Good luck. I know that stale feeling all too well. I had to play three leads yesterday and nearly bored myself to tears ....... pure uninspired slop!
I am so close to retirement that I could play in a band full time. All I have to do is figure out what to use instead of money, improve my playing, learn some songs, and find some other musicians more talented than me who will do exactly as they're told. .
