    Re: New song, with vocals!

listened to it for a bit. the lead at the beginning stuck out to me, that was pretty cool!

the random dropout sounds like lag happening with the TP or your PC. do you have mic pre you can just go straight to the pc with? or even just the mic into the pc if you have te necessary connections. also check if your software has a latency adjustment setting. you may have lowered it or it could be the default setting but it sounds like your pc needs more buffer time for the audio. having that latency will make recording a bit of a pain but at least your audio will be intact

I think it might possibly sound worse because the mic was really cheap - I had to turn the volume up to compensate which only magnifies the problems. I'm looking at getting a decent mic so hopefully next try will be a bit better.
As for the buffer sizes and whatnot, I've tried adjusting all that in the Toneport software to no avail.

Oh BTW thanks for the compliment on the intro lead - I actually put a fair bit of time into actually crafting something I hoped would be memorable and was pretty pleased with what I got. Normally I just ad-lib stuff like that and keep my favourite take.

I was using a $7 USD mic for most my recordings so I dont think the mic is the issue. Your whole recording is slowign down and making weird noises. I can hear your old Strongbow song just fine; I think you are adjusting a setting on your recording interface that does that...good luck with the computer stuff...

also, I was just thinking, it might be your compression/reverb/delay levels? I notice that sound when the vocals are not on at all...

Slowing down? Hmm, it doesnt do that when I listen to it and no one else mentioned it except DankStar who got it work fine on his other computer.
I'm gonna, once I get time, set up a MySpace page and put stuff on there so maybe that'll help.
But this particular song will be re-recorded ASAP, so hopefully everything will be vastly improved once I do it.

true, Im not sure what it exactly is, maybe too much reverb on the vocals

Myspace is simple, shouldn't take more than 15 minutes for basic setup. Its good for those musicians/friends/fans familiar with myspace. For instance I dont go clicking on any random website people send me.

Sorry to hear your band situation did not work out. Sounds like it was for the best. My rule of thumb is getting along with musicians is priority no. 1 and then Im pretty open minded for styles of music. Easier said than done; Im not looking for a band either, kinda happy with things as is. Good luck, have fun
