  • Axe-FX test clip

Well, I just got it today... I dig it, though out of 256 factory presets it has about half a dozen useful ones :-). I ended up just jumping in and creating a couple of my own patches to get a feel for it. Excuse the sloppy playing - I wanted to test my most recent drum mix also so I kept it to less that 40 seconds. I gotta admit, this thing is freakin' awesome. I can see may Marshalls will start to collect dust shortly :-/

Too bad it's not tube, other wise it would sound good.

(I hope you can detect the sarcasm, haha. Kick ass playing dude. )

You know how the cork sniffers are! I'm pretty sure they've started warming up to the Axe-FX, though.

        I think.

More than you might think. The Axe-FX gets tons of love on TGP. Heck, I gave up my Two Rock after I tried one. I've had mine for ten months and I have not had one iota of amp or FX GAS. To be honest, I've only powered up one of my tube amps once in that time frame and after A/B'ing it with the Fractal, I turned it back off.

Tone has potential so you're most of the way there, but it needs work.
            Nice playing too

That's a mighty nice tone, and some really cool playing! Wow!

                What improvements would you suggest?

Do you use a monitor with the AxeFX? If so, which one?

StillLearnin', do you wanna share the backing track? Sounds really cool.

I just have the AFX plugged straight into my Audiofire 4 right now and just do everything through my control room monitors. That's what kills me after being a tube snob for years :-). It might not capture every nuance of standing in front of my half stack, but then again, it's been in my possession for a little more than 12 hours at this point so I'll revisit that in a couple months.
As far as the backing track - I only did a little 30 second jam since I wasn't really wanting to get in too deep (had other stuff to do) - so there's not much to share...

The bass was just done direct - not AFX. Drums are Superior 2.0

For home practice & recording, I monitor through a pair of Mackie MR5s. I also have a QSC HPR122 if I want to move air but for home use the Mackies are sufficient.

That's real nice! ain't quite tube " loose" but I am rather picky in that regard. Looking forward to hearing more of your tinkering with it!

                            Dude, you rock!
I am so close to retirement that I could play in a band full time. All I have to do is figure out what to use instead of money, improve my playing, learn some songs, and find some other musicians more talented than me who will do exactly as they're told. .
