Their Microphone (iRig Mic HD-A) comes with everything you need and it's only $100.

Definitely something I'm looking into. Might toss that on the Christmas list.

If you were doing "scratchpad" stuff only, and had designs on full multitrack recordings later, then I'd say it was sufficient, but if you prefer a "start with an idea that turns epic" workflow, there may be no way around the expense.

Hmmm. Market for a powerful but lightweight 4-track app?
