  • Little Cover: Shawn Lane´s !Hardcase! :-)

    Hi there!

Today I was listening to this song by Shawn Lane and it sounded soooooo cool to me that I´ve made a backing with my keyboard and played this tune over and over about an hour
It´s NOT the complete song! Only 2 parts which I found out quite fast..I had no notes and at the end I made a lil improvisation (2:51 till end)

Finally I recorded it. Thanks to my brother who made an incredible job on the sound-tech thing. Awesome!

I wish you lot of fun with that and remember Shawn Lane, who was one of the best guitarists on earth! Rawk!

            Thanks!

That´s very cool!! I have to buy some records of Shawn..the things I´m familiar with are either from fusion radiostations or fanpages. I´ll get some cash next month.

Re: Little Cover: Shawn Lane´s !Hardcase! :-)

Very nice job. I am a huge Shawn Lane fan. Many moons ago I was in TN and saw him just rip it up at this little bar on Beale St. Talking about wanting to completely throw in the towel after that.... it was just jaw dropping. He used "Holmes" amps in stereo and his tone was amazing. It was almost soothing. He was an absolutely genius on the same level as any of the world's greatest musicians that ever lived. I am not talking about just guitar players- he was up there with Beethoven, Mozart and the boys. He was even born on Bach's birthday! He was maybe a better piano player than a guitar player!! He also read about 5 books a day and spent a lot of time hanging out in book stores reading on every subject. Just a fabulous musician overall. Some of his licks are just insane. EVERYTHING I ever heard him play sounded very musical (with the exception of his orginal Mike Varney tape :-) ). I went out and bought his instructional video 7 or 8 years ago and it is a blast also... I'd highly recommend it. I'd like to keep his memory alive.... I am dead serious-- if Shawn would have been born during the the late 1600s he would have been right up there with JS Bach. I am convinced.

                  Great playing man!

The shredding bit at the end got a bit chopped up though. Apart from that the rest sounded awesome.

I'd love to hear you crank it out through a cookin mark series mesa, although I think that may give us all to great a reason to get off here finally and practice.

Thanks a lot for the feedback!

I recorded it with my Ibanez, the Korg Ax1500 into the Marshall thing with a Shure SM 57. My bro tweaked some parameters in the record-program.

I agree, my improvisation is not as cool as Shawn´s..but hey..I was aware of that before I started playing.

Nice one! You and your bro are doing some very killer stuff.

Your phrasing keeps getting more and more fluid. As always, I am extremely impressed.
