What happens when you don't solder together the 2 middle wires in a 4 conductor pickup and just tape them off together? Would the pickup sound any different?

It's a question I've been asking myself this for a while and there doesn't seem to be much online about this so I thought I'd go ask the question here. For those who have used both, is it a massive difference or a more subtle shifting of the EQ?

Recently I took apart the INF pickups that came with my Ibanez. My INF's had, oddly, an A5 in the neck and a thin ceramic in the bridge and I ended both pickups to get what I wanted(sorta). I ended up putting the ceramic in the JB that came stock with my Charvel San Dimas. Now onto the pickup...

I've had my Charvel for almost two years now and the Ibanez for four, and on both these guitars there are signs of corrosion, pretty heavy on the Ibanez. The environment here(very hot and very humid) in combination with my sweat, which is very acidic, has made my guitars rust pretty badly...

Re: Cool colors I love that colour. I'd definitely rock an LP like that, maybe over a burst. One of my favourite colours though is the Road Flare Red from Ibanez, its just cool, I can't explain why I like it apart from that.
