Same pickup type - different DCR readings within spec - difference?

Words of wisdom as always :) What i mean with my message above is that. Duncan (or any other) manufacture two of same model. One by one or even from the same batch. Then send one to Canada and send other one to Kenya. They both have the almost identical parts, wire from same spool, magnets...

Same pickup type - different DCR readings within spec - difference?

One of the most decisive factors here is the amount of wire wound onto the specific pickup model. For instance, the margin of DCR readings you'll encounter for a JB will be significantly wider than those of a '59 neck. You might see a JB at 16.5K or even 17K; as a Trembucker, it could even reach...

Seymour Duncan wants $255 for shipping to replace two "Dead on Arrival" Antiquity II Surfer Strat Pickups.

Seymour Duncan wants $255 for shipping to replace two "Dead on Arrival" Antiquity II Surfer Strat Pickups.

    Schaller 2n1 vs Super D

I have a vintage Dimarzio PAF in the neck and it was fantastic; https://www.tonejourney.com/post/vintage-dimarzio-paf-review I also have a DP103 PAF from early 90s. Havent but it's a bit different. More powerful, lots more lows, a bit muddy because of that. Measurements are more similar to the...

    How can I De-VirtualVintage a DiMarzio?

Not my personal experinece in the first hand but i think i would stick a cylindrical metal bar with super glue carefully and pull them out.

PRS 85/15 replacement pickups & alnico 4 magnet swap results?

I have a set of PRS 85/15 from a SE model. Both have ~300G flux on top of the pole pieces. That's a slightly lower value for humbuckers with A5. There are hb with A5 magnets within much higher like Norton (>400G) or some JB's that i have (~400G) and some lower than 300G. For most of the...

    Schaller 2n1 vs Super D

More of a '59 Clone. I haven't tried it yet but all my measurements shows me the similarity with '59 is more than DP103

    Schaller 2n1 vs Super D

I will. I've just received the box. According to the social media guy they are not being produced anymore. But their Turkish dealer told me that they will manufacture pickups as batches special to them.

    Schaller 2n1 vs Super D

I have just bought a Golden 50 bridge in double cream. Perfectly new and smoking. But the inductance is much lower than advertised. I think they had measured higher frequencies because at 100Hz it lower than 5H.

Expensive Pickups that should song great but don't

Well, i am not the #1 fan of Gibson pickups. There are some models i enjoy like BB1 and BB2 but i remember the first time i tried 57 Classic and how i disappointed. 490T is not a popular hb among the Gibson pickup fans but i liked it on the bridge of my strat.

Expensive Pickups that should song great but don't

AFAIK That's why Dimarzio designs their PAF clones to sound warmer. Not to replicate the old recipe, to reanimation of the final sound.
