.047k Capacitors for Duncan Humbuckers?

I just installed a .022k capacitor (after a recomendation by my friend) on one of the tone pots on my guitar. The guitar has a PATB1 Trembucker in the bridge and a Little 59 in the neck position.

I was just looking at schematics on this site and it appears that Seymour Duncan shows .047k and not .022k capacitors. Which is the best?

Also, I only have one capacitor on one of my tone pots; however, it appears from the Seymour Duncan Schematics that I need 2 capacitors( one on each tone pot). Am I reading this right?

thanks.

Historically .047 are for single coils and .022 for humbuckers. Either one can be used. Its just your preference. You only need one capacitor.

Hi and welcome.

First, it's a matter of taste. Going to .047 will change the rolloff frequency some. My advice is to try both and choose the one you like best.

You can use one cap for both tone pots or one cap for each tone pot. You may like .047 with one but .022 with the other. There's no rule that says both have to be the same value. Heck, try .033 as well.

It is a matter of taste as ErikH says, and to me, .047's are just too much, too dark.

My own taste is that the classic .022 is just right for the neck pickup but I like something a lot more subtle on the bridge, currently using a Mallory .0068. I never want the bridge to sound dark, just want to take just a little of the edge off.
