which one you recommend for that guitar (Custom) it cames with .09 and it sound good, but the neck feel like lack of something and I try with .10, sound good to, but too dark (I found more brigthness with .09)
But which one you recommend for that guitar?

11's?

i would go for the 10's of those two but i prefer heavier strings especially on short scale guitars

I changed both mine to 10's and even that feels light cause I also play 10's on my Fenders. I use locking tuners on all my guitars so I am not sure if going any heavier is an option. I may have to some day.

The 9's were not on either one of them long to comment on the tonal difference. It has been said that heavy strings = better bottom end and better intonation stability.

Re: .09 or .10 on an EPIPHONE LP?

I used to use 10-46 on my old Epi LP Custom. That to me was the best compromise between deep, sustainful tone and playability. If you are generally a player who likes lighter strings, go for a 9-46 set. (9s are usually 9-42). I really like this hybrid set of 9-46s. I know Fender and Ernie Ball sell them.

Go with the ones that feel the best to you.

I like 9-46's they're heavier on top and skinnier on the bottom for easier bending.

Otherwise I always go with 10-46 except for guitars I down tune I use 11-52...

12s :D

Like Jeremy I´d definitely choose 10s out of those 2. But esp. on short scale instruments heavier is better IMO ;)

Re: .09 or .10 on an EPIPHONE LP?

i've always been using 10-46 or 10-52, never really touched on 9-42s.
I believe the strings have a slight affect on ur tone as well. maybe a slightly thicker sound, but i think between 9s and 10s there isnt much

Re: .09 or .10 on an EPIPHONE LP?

I like 10-46 on my Les Paul. 9-42 felt too slinky, and I'm used to 25 1/2 scale guitars. 10-46 took that way for me. I noticed it sounded fuller, the resonance was more present and it just felt easier to play with the 10's vs. the 9's.

Dean Markley makes the 9-46 hybrid set too, which I like on my humbucker loaded Strats. The SSS Strat gets 10-46.

higher the better - LP's already feel like toys with their nancy-boy short scale

Re: .09 or .10 on an EPIPHONE LP?

The strings you had on your Epi from the factory may have been 9's...but were likely a crappy batch of strings to begin with. Try a few sets of nines (and tens) from a few name brands to get a real feel/tonal experience.

Personally, I do Ernie Ball:

Hybrid Slinky (9-46) for "E" tuning
Skinny Top/Heavy Bottom (10-52) for "D" tuning
Skinny Top/Heavy Bottom (10-52), plus a .070" for my 7 string tuned to an "A".

Try one set at a time, because tastes can change early into a particular guitar. Having strings you don't use is a waste.

I've gone to 9.5 D'Addarios(SP?) on all of my guitars and love them....nice compromise but I could see going heavier on the bass strings.

Years ago, I found out that I really liked 9.5's, but I don't remember the brand...it could have been Vinci. This was soooo long ago, the internet didn't even exist!
