12-22 Tube Combos that have VOLTAGE SWITCHING

...any out there?

Wish Australia ran on the same voltages as America, then I could buy any amp from the US!

You Might have to get something custom made......ulbricks are pretty good, you can get him to do something custom made...pricey though!!!

There are quite simple power transformers out there. Get one that's about 500W and put it in between the wall plug and the amp. Way cheaper than getting something custom or taking all the time looking for something with switching

I read your exchange with Geoff about Ulbrick amps. Got my ears perked, indeed!

Wow, that opens up so many possibilties. I suspected there was another route for me to travel down.

What does a power transformer do? Is it safe? I'm thinking I'm going to feel a little apprehensive about having two things between the power plug and the wall (the power transformer and the US-to-AUS converter plug).

Re: 12-22 Tube Combos that have VOLTAGE SWITCHING

Well power transformers are quite simple things. They just take the voltage from the plug and convert it. No safety issues i can think of. You need to get one that's able to handle the current draw from the amp so a 500W imo would be safest, otherwise you might fry the transformer because it gets too hot.

Yeah, one of my Super Champs is US voltage. I believe it's called a step down transformer. Works no problems, and a lot cheaper than one of Dave Ulbrick's amps, as good as they are! http://www.ulbricksound.com/

Cheers..........................wahwah
