G&L supports their import line because they want them to be solid and well respected instruments, and they are. They get USA electronics and are set up at the USA shop before going out to shops. Their USA stuff is amazing but I would not turn down a Tribute line model.
Epiphone has gotten more and more solid as of late. I really like the 2020 models, especially the LP Modern. Incredible value there. I'm seriously considering one of those for myself. I mean, just look at this! https://www.epiphone.com/Guitar/EPIK...Graphite-Black
Yeah, what I meant was they seem like a reverse company. They have a ton of import guitars that carry their name and only a few US models. Like, their strategy is to continue to create US models only so they can say their import line is based on the US models... but they don't appear too focused on selling US models. Even their website is focused on the Tribute series.
Kind of how Washburn evolved... eventually turned into an import company that created a USA Custom Shop because they wanted to support the import line...
