whats the difference. i got some tung sol's i'm gonna put in, but the one's that came out are b's. the one's i want to put in are a's. does it matter.

same brand? it typically means slightly different internal structure or some other difference. sovtek has 12ax7wa, 12ax7wb, and 12ax7wc models that are all different. the b is supposed to be an improvement over the a, and c is supposed to be an improvement over b

nah different brands. it's funny though the a's i put in last night, changed the gain in the 7 watt setting in my blackheart. before it was real fuzzy. nows it's more like putting an od-1 in front of a clean channel. it's not gonna hurt the amp with the change is it. the stuff i read last night says it doesnt really matter what ax7's you use.
