what year, any problems with the amp, is there new tubes, all knobs working...

new costs 1900$...more dependable than a 25 year old amp for sure anyway...what jcm model...any mods to it...I bought my jcm 800 head and 4x12 for $600 back in 97

You shouldn't pay more than $850 american for a head in decent shape.

It looks like 800's are still going for ridiculous prices. People are usually looking for early (81-83) 2203 and 2204's, and later 2205 and 2210's. I bought my 2210 for $800 a couple years ago, and prices have went up since then. I've seen some 2210's go for $1000 to $1200.

If i were you I'd wait it out a bit.

I've found, from past experience, if you have to ask yourself wether it's a good deal or not, it's not good enough. Now if you look at the price tag and go "hot damn!", then odds are, it's a good deal.

There's one in palm beach, FL for $650 because it's been modified with a different head schell.

It's a 2204, I'll give you the guys email if you want, but he said he won't ship.

Last year I paid $850 for a JCM800 4211 2x12 100 watt channel switching combo- all stock but the tolex was ripped in spots. The head versions go for maybe $850 as well. I'm looking ofr another one and I wouldn't pay more that $850

I disagree a new one will be more reliable.

I have seen old JCM800s purr and purr after years of gigs. In LA the buildings that stand earthquakes the best are the ones that have settled in and maybe taken some light knocks.

I have seen 2203's as low $700 in LA of all places!

Not really. Sometimes what looks like a deal- isn't, and chances are you're going to pay accordingly to what you get.

You really have to know what you're after, what's ACTUALLY for sale, what it's really worth on the market, and what it's worth to you.

It's blinding to be going in seeing something that you want and a hyped up price. It's also blinding to see a "similar" product for an excessively low price.
