15-20 watt tube amps?

Re: 15-20 watt tube amps?

I've got a Fender Tweed Deluxe for sale right now. $700 shpped. All tube, handbuilt point ot point, no circuit boards, highest quality components from Bruce at Mission Amps. Solid pine lightweight cabinet, single 12" speaker. Distorts heavenly at volumes that won't piss off the neighbors/parents. Actualy, it might still piss them off. ;)

Jake, Beandip and Jeff Seal can attest to the fact that it is quiet as a church mouse. :)

scott...

forgot to put text in the message.....as much as I would absolutely love that amp, and I really really would...I just don't have the cash right now and I have a feeling that by the time I have the cash, you're not going to have it anymore....but should I come into the money before you sell it, I'll be highly interested!

:)

why are so many boutique amps made for el84's?

Most people prefer the EL84 tone to its American counterpart the 6V6 because the EL84 has more mids and and smoother high end. The 6V6 is a "scrappy" (I saw this word used and think it's appropriate) little tube that has more lows and highs, but many people think it sounds "farty" or "flabby" at higher volumes. I thnk this is more of an EQ problem than anything. I also think running the two together, like a Mesa blue angel, would produce fantastic tone.
